Why Leyla

A story about finding your way back to yourself.

Having experienced periods of derealization myself, I wanted to create a film that gives this experience a voice. Depersonalization can make you feel like a stranger in your own body, disconnected from your emotions, your thoughts and ultimately from yourself.

"LEYLA does not seek to explain this feeling. It seeks to make it felt. "

About The Film

SOME THINGS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE UNDERSTOOD. THEY ARE MEANT TO BE FELT.

Leyla is a psychological drama about identity, emotional numbness, change and our connection to our own Sense of Self.
After a series of life-changing events leaves him emotionally numb, the protagonist Mark enters therapy hoping to understand what has happened to him.
What begins as an ordinary conversation slowly turns into a relentless journey through his own mind, forcing him to confront the fears, memories and emotions he has spent months trying to escape.
Only by facing them can he begin to find his way back to himself.
